Thank you, local businesses!
With pride, the Town of Caledon officially unveiled a spectacular gravel garden on the northeast corner of Old Church Road and Highway 50. The garden depicts the jumping horse, Caledon’s official icon of the Pan Am Games, and will serve as a reminder of the summer of 2015 for years to come.
“It’s another proud Caledon moment today as we unveil this gravel garden,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “It is through the relationships with Caledon that this became a reality. Thank you to the businesses who stepped up to create this lasting legacy,” said Mayor Allan Thompson.
Cornerstone Landscaping, Marrex Construction and Excavating Ltd., Sunshine Design and Construction Ltd. and Verti-crete of Bolton played instrumental roles in transforming this quiet corner into a Games’ legacy.
Caledon’s local business community has further embraced the Pan Am Games in this community. A number of beautiful finishing touches throughout Caledon will welcome the world during the Pan Am Games and create a sense of ‘place’ for years to come.
The main entrance to the Caledon Pan Am Equestrian Park was revamped from a humble welcome into a majestic statement. Contributors to the gateway project included: Allograph Inc.; B.E.N. Stoneworks; D.&D Greenwood Construction; Dutch Masters Design & Construction; Estate Advancements; Glen Echo Nurseries; James Dick Concrete and Aggregates; McGuire Fencing Limited; Orangeville Supply; System Fencing Limited; and Woodguard Fencing.
The Parade of Horses
The Town also extends thanks to Dutch Masters Design & Construction for donating three painted horses from the Pan Am Parade of Horses to the town of Caledon. Two have been permanently installed at the Caledon Pan Am Equestrian Park, and one is at the Caledon Community Complex.
Commemorating partnerships
Coming soon to the Caledon Pan Am Equestrian Park is the Friends of Pan Am Partnership Panel. Set to be installed along a footpath at the south end of the Park, the “thank you donor wall” installation is still in the design stage. It is anticipated that it will feature stone pillars donated by Verti-crete to support iron panels listing all businesses who donated to the legacy projects. As well, the donor walk will be designed to be expandable for future donations and partner recognition. It will evolve over time as a place for the general public to also participate in commemorative opportunities.
“It will serve as another legacy of the games and a symbol of the generosity and community spirit of the contributing businesses,” said Thompson.
